Greg Simmons brings an entrepreneurial perspective to the Staunch Moderates Movement. He was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area where he learned much from his father’s entrepreneurial successes, Greg earned a business degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder. While in school at Boulder, Greg was inspired to make a career in real estate development. He successfully built a portfolio of properties in Boulder, Vail, and Aspen, and also participated in developing and building restaurants and other projects in California.

Greg’s other work on theatrical productions in college inspired him to become a patron of the HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival which took place for a decade in Aspen during the turn of the century. Eventually he shifted from real estate development to the entertainment industry all together, developing A$PEN THE SERIES, a sitcom takeoff on the reality TV genre, along with its companion show within the show SNEAK-A-PEAK. The process of going through the creative and marketing efforts of A$PEN THE SERIES for almost two decades lead Greg to the founding of the Staunch Moderates, as its producer, promoter and one of its philosophers. Given the political incorrectness of his A$PEN THE SERIES and the many considerations involved in developing, financing, producing and distributing a television show both domestically and internationally, it’s from this experience that gave Greg the mindset to birth the Staunch Moderates Movement.

Greg’s early development as an artist began with learning to play guitar during his high school years. As a professional, Greg was then exposed to the music industry by working with legendary industry producer and artist CJ Vanston (Tears for Fears, Dali Lama, Ringo Star, etc.) to produce the theme song for A$PEN THE SERIES called “A$pen Style.” Greg also collaborated with other artists for his television productions, most notably with hip hop artist Casanova Ace, producing promotional pieces for both SNEAK-A-PEAK and A$PEN THE SERIES. Greg also had longer term plans to develop third and fourth season arcs for A$PEN THE SERIES in which his cast of characters were going to produce a hip hop album within the show. Taking from this experience, the relationships he’s solidified in the entertainment industry and learning what he has by co-founding and administrating the Staunch Moderates Movement, Greg first came up with the idea for the movement’s debut music album, THE FIRST REALM, and then successfully leveraged those relationships and experience to make it a reality.

As a colorful aside but also an integral piece to the Staunch Moderates universe, Greg manifested a mascot for the movement named Staunch, an eight-foot tall bigfoot character that represents not only the movement’s Rocky Mountains origins, but also Greg’s alter ego as he likes to say. With the launch of the musical side of the movement, Greg has also now christened his mascot Staunch as DJ Staunch, who is considered to be an artist in his own right on the album. DJ Staunch embodies not only Greg’s alter ego, but now also those who are behind the movement’s music, film and philosophical endeavors.
