B.M.O.
B.M.O. (or Big Mama Ohana) follows Hector, a janitor, and Regina, a graphic designer, at the Institute of Kaiju Observation and Research (I.K.O.R.) as they cope with a giant monster attack on the city. Locked down in a research lab, Hector and Regina do their best to cope with the situation and with each other, but have very different perceptions and reactions to the situation. While Hector tries to distract them from the reality of their imminent death, Regina doesn’t know how to do anything but face reality and break down. As the city burns around them, they try to discuss things like art and their history, but they become more enveloped in the anxiety and fear of the situation. They end up getting into an argument on how they want to spend their final moments, causing Hector to leave the lab and accept his death. Regina calms down and eventually finds Hector on the roof, where they decide to dance and accept their fate.

A graduate of the University of Colorado - Denver's Film and TV Production department, Alexander Kimose has directed four short films, one documentary, and one web series. He has become quickly known for his high concept dramas and use of technology to bring strange concepts to life on the tiniest of budgets. Alongside his film work, Kimose has worked with companies such as Indoor Feeling Films, Meow Wolf, and the Austin Film Festival.
In crafting B.M.O., I wanted to tell a love story. A weird love story. From writing a story where two strangers get to know each other while a giant crab attacks, to the actual process of digitizing a puppet for the project: there is a lot of innovative and odd things our crew went through to get this film made. Despite the strange times, I'm extremely proud of the work and end result of such an ambitious short. This is B.M.O.
