Beyond The Trails
Osman, an young man from the city (Dhaka) comes alone to a remote mountainous-village on the south-eastern part of Bangladesh to find himself. There is no cellphone network in the village and the nearest road for cars is a day away from the village. For the villagers, farming is the only viable option for earning the livelihood. Nowadays some tourists come from the faraway cities to hike the mountain and watch the waterfalls. Some city people are investing money to build resort and cottages for the tourists. Osman lives, works and moves like a native of the village and becomes one of them. Osman feels the changing power-economic-dynamics on the hills these days. But, he is suddenly threatened by a stranger to leave the village.

Fazle Hasan Shishir is a Bangladeshi writer-director-producer from Ratherhood Initiatives. He is an alumni of the Busan Asian Film School. His filmography spans over a period of twelve years in various fields of practical filmmaking serving numerous short films, documentaries, commercials as a cinematographer, editor, director and producer.
His serious focus in producing started by his journey as a film curator and teacher that includes film like The Magical Horse of Mukul (2021), Café Desire (2022).
Beyond The Trails (2024) is his fictional directorial debut. His project in-development "Suraiya" was selected for the Asian Project Market 2023 at the 28th Busan International Film Festival.
Beyond The Trails (2024) is a hybrid fiction which tends to portray the inter-cultural aspiration of a young man in the context of a particular national boundary. The film was shot in a way where the presence of the character in their original state is more meaningful than creating a drama around their life. Bengalis as the majority of the land has a romantic feeling towards the lifestyle and the people of the hills. I tried to create a cultural amalgamation which goes beyond that. As the film is devoid of much hardcore drama, its essence lies in the flow of the time and space where the space and time stay larger than the characters.
