Eryn Harris is a student filmmaker from the small coastal town of Palm Coast, Florida. She is currently in her senior year studying at Flagler College for a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Production with a minor in Film Studies.
She began her filmmaking career in high school when she entered her school's Digital Media Production extra-curricular program and club, and realized her passion for telling stories, both fictional and non-fiction. Upon graduating high school, she felt lucky to have discovered exactly what she wanted to do the rest of her life so quickly, and now at Flagler College, has directed, edited, curated art direction, and been the director of photography for countless short films.
Eryn is spirited about giving voice to the voiceless and spotlighting marginalized or underrepresented groups in her works. Specializing in cinematography, Eryn is rarely seen without a camera in hand, ready to put the next story to screen.
"Beyond The Tracks" details a story that has been on my mind for years. I have lived in Flagler County my entire life, and one day realized that I had never been taught anything about local Black history. As I was in my search to find any information I could, which was sparse, I had the idea to start from the ground up and interview longtime residents, community leaders, and historians who would have firsthand accounts of this knowledge. I knew most residents of Flagler County had likely never heard of or considered it before, and these marginalized communities needed their voices to be heard. I had to table this documentary concept, though, as I was still in high school and did not have the resources to make it happen.
Flash forward to my studies at Flagler College, and I have been much more endowed with tools and resources by my institution to be able to put this story to screen. As any filmmaker does, I am often very critical of my work, but I do think that "Beyond The Tracks" signifies a noteworthy milestone in my filmmaking career.
