Director Biography - Anwen Carlisle

Born and brought up in the Vale of Glamorgan, Anwen started working professionally as an actress at the age of 14 for HTV in the soap opera ‘Dinas’where she played Tracey Doyle for 3 years.

She then went on to train at the Welsh College of Music and Drama, graduating in 1995.

Since graduating, she has worked extensively in TV, Theatre, Film and Radio.

Film credits include ‘ Relative Values’ alongside Julie Andrews, Stephen Fry and Colin Firth.

Radio credits include various plays and drama series for Radio 4, Radio Cymru, and Radio Wales including “The LL Files’. Post Mortem, The Tale of Margaret Seddon.

Recent TV projects include ‘Torchwood’(BBC),Indian Doctor(BBC) Parch (S4C) Born to Kill (Channel 4) Pobol y Cwm (BBC) and several childrens programmes for S4C’s Cyw.

Her biggest passion is theatre. She has worked for many theatre companies including National Theatre Wales, Clwyd Theatre Cymru. Mappa Mundi and Theatre Na n”Og where she toured both main stage and Theatre in Education projects. She is currently touring a one woman show for Mewn Cymeriad Theatre Company to schools all over Wales

Although she has directed and written several theatre shows, Berta is the first film that she has directed.

Anwen lives in Cardiff with her husband Sion, her children Mia, Jac, Ana and Ela and her dog Cadi.
