Before We Die

After a deadly virus hits New York City, two young survivors take refuge on a roof. In efforts to fill the voids of all they’ve lost, the characters work together to complete a list of things they want to do before they die. The story begs the question: When society shatters and tomorrow is no longer guaranteed, what are you left with?

Director Biography - Kate diRienzi

Kate diRienzi is an NYC-based director and writer for film and theatre. She makes work for an audience that is curious, anxious, and impulsive. Before I die I want to ride a horse, at least one time. I also want to go to Japan.

Director Statement

Our film navigates the thin distinctions between intimacy and loneliness; between longing and dreaming. Our team came together after a summer of distance to bring the intimate and colorful world of these characters to life. We worked with curiosity and care as we built Teddy and Dylan’s playground on an NYC rooftop. We hope that sharing these characters and their desperate desire to dream will speak to our audience’s own experiences with loneliness, love and everything in between.
