Born in Nuuk, Greenland , studies Language, Media and Culture and finished in 2015 as Cand.mag.of arts. Teacher at higschool in GUX Nuuk in culture, greenlandic and media. First experience as filmmaker was at Dartmouth College in 2008 as an exchange student, a documentary about Native Americans at Dartmouth about their view on their own language. Second documentary was in 2018 about homelessness in Greenland and Denmark. Deput short film in 2021 an adaption from a greenlandic novel of a greenlandic author.
Greenlandic first novel was in 1914 and only few published each year, my experience as a highschool teacher is that the young ones only want to see movies, tiktok or youtube. And its fine, but our litterature seems so outdated that I decided to adapt from a known novel to a short film. To catch the young audiences curiosity and this is the first adaptation from a greenlandic novel ever in Greenland. So my hope is that young film makers can be inspired to carry on the greenlandic literature treasure into their own platform of SoME.
