Director Statement

Bargaining Acceptance is a dark comedy about death, grief, and family. It explores how individuals let go - and hold on - when faced with loss. The inclusion of comedy makes room for family dynamics to appear in various tones of judgment, affection, and ridicule. The supernatural combined with awkward specificity builds the world of the film and invites the audience to go for a ride without thinking twice.

The story took me two years to write. After the death of my grandmother, I began to consider the chaos that ensues from identifying the body, planning and funding the funeral, and releasing the ashes.

This small, damaged family is just trying to say goodbye to each other.
