Vance Sparks is a born and raised Texan who began his acting career in Dallas in 2010, starting as an extra on Fox's The Good Guys, and NBC's Chase.
He gained local attention by playing the title role in the short film drama, Brady's Lot, for which he won Best Actor at The International Independent Film Awards 2016.
He's since made appearances in Max original series Love and Death as Dr. Lask, an OBGYN to Betty and Allan Gore played by Lily Rabe and Jesse Plemons, as well as Troy Aikman's buddy in a Choctaw Casino commercial airing now on Bally Sports Channel.
During the pandemic, Vance kept busy by gathering over 52K followers on his TikTok, @HandyVance, with his tutorials of his DIY projects. His approachable everyday handyman style has resonated with viewers all over the platform.
Vance has been a member of SAG-AFTRA since 2016, and is currently serving a third term on the DFW Local SAG-AFTRA Board alongside his wife, Bonnie Gayle Sparks. The two met first in acting class in 2015 and have been best friends ever since. They recently founded Sparks Productions LLC, and released their first title, Bad Girl, a comedy sketch written and directed by Vance.
Vance's additional list of special skills is impressive, including stunt driving, proficient use of firearms, singing, playing guitar, fishing, and operating motorcycles and ATVs. He is also a member of the East Trinity Masonic Lodge in Rockwall, TX.
A proud father of two, Vance's son, Chase, is a licensed pharmacist (PharmD), and his daughter, Ashlyn, is the owner and lead esthetician at Aneva Skin in McKinney, Texas.
I originally wrote this sketch for an acting class, the same class that my now wife, Bonnie Gayle Sparks, and I met in. She stars in this short as Ginger, the no-BS New Yorker working the streets. You might recognize her from Max original series "Love & Death" in her recurring role as Jo Ann Garlington opposite Elizabeth Olsen.
I loved getting to act opposite her in this project, as well as our long time buddy, Earl Browning III, who you can see as Doc Harmon in Paramount + original series "Lawmen: Bass Reeves".
As a long time actor myself, it was fulfilling to actually create my first 'film baby'. I've definitely caught the bug and look forward to creating more short form and long form content soon.
