GOLUBI

“GOLUBI,” meaning “pigeons” in Russian, is a music video that uses the symbolic imagery of these birds to reflect the nature of societal systems. Through a raw and intense performance, the piece delves into themes of social conformity, control, and resistance. The pigeons, often seen as common yet resilient, become a metaphor for individuals within a structured system, highlighting both the constraints and the subtle defiance found within. “GOLUBI” presents a deep social performance, urging the viewer to question their role within collective structures and the potential for personal liberation within them.

Director Biography - Daniil Denisov

Born on August 20, 2002, into a family of musicians in Rybinsk, Russia, Daniil Denisov grew up in a creative environment. He began studying music at age 7 before switching to art school two years later, focusing on music, drawing, and experimenting with visual art through stop-motion animations and claymation. Early on, he also organized photo shoots and worked in a photo-video studio.

After graduating high school in 2020, he earned a diploma in art with high marks and trained as a metal welder. He moved to Berlin on March 6, 2021, to study language, culture, and art. Since April 2022, he has worked at Tipi Am Kanzleramt as a bartender and at PANDA Platform as a sound, lighting, and video technician, balancing paid work with volunteer roles in theater and set work, as well as concert and performance photography.

In March 2023, Daniil began a Film Production course at SAE Institute Berlin. During his first semester, he directed his first surreal short film, 01, which is currently completing its festival tour with plans for release on streaming platforms. In his second semester, he completed his fourth music album under the pseudonym “Бундит,” accompanied by a short film-music video as a visual representation of the album. He graduated with a thesis project that integrated his own music, combining video, audio, and a deeply reflective performance element.

In 2024, he joined the technical team at Fusion Festival, further enriching his journey as an audiovisual creator. Today, Daniil continues to travel worldwide, collecting experiences, creating performances, and finding inspiration from new and diverse sources of life and activity, broadening his artistic repertoire across film, music, and performance art.

Director Statement

When I was 7 years old, I fell gravely ill with a fever of 41 degrees Celsius. Amid the haze in my mind, the only thing I could focus on was a vivid visualization of my thoughts in that moment. With an old Nokia phone and some Lego pieces at hand, I began experimenting with stop-motion and filming, drawing inspiration directly from my dreams. I can hear visuals. I will die after I stop creating art.
