Director Biography - Alessandro Novo

Alessandro Novo was born in Italy in 2004. From an early age, he cultivated a natural inclination for image, sound, and visual composition. His first explorations led him through music, photography, graphic design, and computer science - tools that allowed him to discover a personal language.
Cinema soon revealed itself as the perfect synthesis of all his passions: a total expressive medium where technique and poetry coexist. With a keen eye, strong self-discipline, and a constant desire to explore new forms of storytelling, Alessandro has grown by crafting his own projects and pursuing a path of conscious evolution.
Boxxy is his first animated short film created entirely on his own, and marks a turning point: the transformation of an idea into a visual experience capable of speaking to everyone.

Director Statement

With Boxxy, I wanted to tell a simple yet deeply symbolic story. A cardboard box - a forgotten object - becomes the protagonist of a journey of redemption and transformation.
The idea was born from the desire to convey an emotion from what we usually consider worthless.
It's not just about material recycling, but emotional rebirth. Boxxy is an attempt to restore dignity and wonder to what the world has left behind, to narrate the invisible through animation, and to remind us that even the humblest object can hold an entire universe.
