Oliver Hill was born in New York to a Spanish mother and an American father. Raised between the US and Spain, the beaches and cultural patchwork of Latin America and the Caribbean beckoned from an early age. After graduating from Cornell University with a bachelor's degree in development economics and life sciences, Oliver attended Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism, where he earned a master's degree in broadcast journalism. Oliver has explored the theme of identity among people of Latin America and the Caribbean in his three films. His passion for documentary filmmaking has grown alongside a career in financial journalism, travel writing, M&A consulting and corporate communications. He continues to develop the craft while producing content and consulting for clients from across the globe from his base in Kingston, Jamaica.
I am proud to have produced this film about a critical program that gave a lifeline to thousands of young Jamaicans between 2000 and 2020, steering them away from crime and violence through educational scholarships, vocational skills training and remedial justice.
