Shreela Agarwal is a director, editor, and screenwriter from India. Originally from Delhi, Shreela spent her adolescent years in Mumbai.
Having graduated from the Lasalle College of Arts in Singapore, where she did her Bachelors in Film, she has been on a sabbatical from the world of film pursuing her dream of boxing since the past 4 years.
Due to a recent injury she has slowly started creating again.
Her last film मेरा भाई /My Brother got its world premiere at Singapore International Film Festival(SGIFF) and got screened in festivals like DIFF, NYIFF, and others. It also won the CAPA 2021 CILECT award for best film.
In Mumbai, the city of dreams, one thing that remains constant is change. Change towards better infrastructure, improved transportation, enhanced living conditions all in the pursuit of a brighter future, maybe?
But have we stopped to consider what we might be losing in the process? Or the pain experienced by those who have to uproot their lives for this supposed progress?
Over the past few years, I have closely witnessed and experienced the plight of one such community: a small boxing club in the heart of Mumbai.
Inspired by these events, the story of BMCLD came to life.
