BIG EGG

BIG EGG is my graduation project from MA Directing at MetFilm London. An absurd comedy short which was written, directed, edited and partly performed by me. This film was made out of total passion for bringing back absurd British comedy, which I feel we are very much lacking in our current entertainment climate; especially stories made by women. Before attending MetFilm, I was working in a minimum-wage retail job in my small hometown in the Midlands, and saving up for my dream of a career in filmmaking. However, when my place of work unfortunately shut down, leaving me unable to find a job with employment being as scarce as it is across the UK at the moment, I decided to take the leap and go back into education. This project was completely funded out of my own pocket, from savings I had built up during my time working in retail, and therefore is a very low-budget short – however in doing so I hoped to prove that with determination and outside-the-box thinking those of us who are just starting out and struggling are still able to make our stories come to life, no matter how absurd they may be. With the unwavering support of my all-female HOD team at my side, I created this short story about two friends and their postman, who have been burdened with the responsibility of raising a man who hatches out of a massive egg.
