Director Biography - Nathan Israileff

Nathan was born in the San Francisco Bay Area to a French mother and Swiss father, the first in his family born in America. After studying at Columbia College Chicago, he made the award-winning short HANGING IN THERE. His feature debut, BEHIND THE 8-BALL, draws from his own journey overcoming alcohol and cocaine abuse.

BEHIND THE 8-BALL is my love letter to functional addicts. I see you, and you’re not alone—I’ve been there too. Inspired by years lost to cocaine and alcohol, from hospital beds to fractured relationships, this film is my way of reclaiming that darkness and turning it into connection.
