,Yoselyn, a eight-year-old girl, lives alone with her mother, Marta, a nurse who works long shifts in a public hospital in Mexico City. One day, Marta is unable to leave her with the neighbor as usual and decides to take her to the hospital.
While exploring the hospital hallways, Yoselyn accidentally witnesses a painful scene: a mother receiving the news of her baby’s death.
On their way back home, Yoselyn asks her mother about what happened, leading to a conversation between them about absence and the distance that has grown in their relationship.

Director Biography - Jimena Villegas Romero

Jimena Villegas (2004) is an emerging audiovisual creator from the State of Mexico. From an early age, she developed a strong interest in the arts in all their forms, exploring illustration, writing, and ultimately finding in film and animation the mediums that best allow her to unite visual sensitivity with narrative purpose.
She moved to the state of Jalisco to study Art and Animation, where she cultivated an interdisciplinary perspective that weaves together storytelling, visual exploration, and critical reflection. Her work is marked by a feminist approach and a deep commitment to human rights, particularly regarding the experiences of women and girls. Through her creative practice, she seeks to make visible the inequalities and structural issues that often remain normalized or overlooked.
In 2020, she received a national award for a short story on citizenship, a recognition that reinforced her belief in the power of storytelling to foster social awareness and transformation.
Jimena views cinema as a tool for memory, critique, and change. Her projects explore marginalized realities with honesty and empathy, trusting in art’s ability to challenge perspectives, spark dialogue, and inspire new ways of understanding the world.
