Director Statement

Once I met with an old Highschool friend at his Arizona home. It was a hard time for both of us. We talked a lot. He read something to me that he had written some lonesome time ago. It was about a guy stopping by a fleemarket, when he sees a woman and immedialtely falls into a daydream which shows him how beautifully their relationship would begin and how tragically it would end. He sayes „ Nice to meet you“ and leaves.

To me this is the perfect plot for a short film. It offers the perfect conditions for a beginning 1st Act, a 5 minutes daydream, and a 3rd Act, topped with a quick and funny Highlight at the end.
That very day I promised my friend to make a movie out of his ideah. I am happy I could realice it.

I translated and modified the text into German rhymes which changed the original story a bit. The spoken text got brilliant feetback. I then used it as the OFF- Text, the voice of our „hero“ in the story. As it explanes what the viewer is seeing. Only in the end the audience should realize that we just saw his daydream. Also i searched for a more impressive end. The hero of the film should know it better in the end, as an old screenplay rule sayes.

Finally we filmed more than 70 szenes in 7 days spread throughout an entire year. I am a career changer, 100% authoditakt. This is my first film. It was created without a cent of advancement. It was hard to plan and organice everything. Thank God it snowed on one of these days!
