Attached is a film that was birthed out of our own fears and the pressures that we face everyday of being in our twenties trying to accomplish our dreams. We both work in film and theatre where we feel adjacent to our goals of ultimately becoming filmmakers. We often meet artists in passing and see them in our work spaces. But we also feel so far from an industry that does not always provide the resources for Black independent, first time filmmakers. This feeling of limbo haunts us in a way that is difficult to explain in words. But it is a feeling that is shared by many of our friends and colleagues who also don’t have it all figured out. It feels like a horror film where you are plagued by your own rational but sometimes irrational thoughts as you move in a world that is full of rejection and trying to find that source of hope to continue on the path that is not promised to anyone. Our source of hope is film and creating stories that our community can see themselves in and hopefully discover a part of themselves along the way.
