Atlas Falling
In the wake of a global alien occupation, a grieving woman turns to vengeance after the death of her only companion—her dog—and becomes an unlikely resistance fighter against forces far beyond her world.
_____________________________________________________________
Raae is a quiet survivor in a collapsing world. As an alien occupation tightens its grip on Earth, the lines between civilian and soldier blur. Isolated in a rural home and haunted by the past, Raae lives a solitary life marked by ritual, loss, and silence. Her only connection to peace is Neil, her loyal Australian Cattle Dog.
When a harrowing encounter in the woods ends with Neil’s brutal death, Raae is shattered—but not broken. She buries his collar, loads her pistol, and begins preparing for something she never imagined: war. Alone and with nothing left to lose, she crafts homemade explosives, stalks enemy movement, and sets her sights on a covert alien facility hidden in plain sight.
But vengeance is not simple. Inside the facility, Raae discovers vials of strange green liquid and comes face-to-face with a masked extraterrestrial, igniting a vicious fight for survival. As alarms blare and the clock ticks on a makeshift bomb, she makes a narrow escape—scarring the enemy, but marking herself forever.
Six months later, the world is still fractured—but Raae has changed. Armed, tattooed, and listening to a battered transistor radio, she walks toward a hovering UFO with calm purpose. She is no longer hiding. She is no longer waiting. She is the resistance.

'Atlas Falling' Director/Director of Photography, Lindsay Thompson, is a filmmaker based in Greensboro, NC, raised near Goldsboro, NC, and attended the School of the Arts at East Carolina University.
Following art school, and further pursuing her lifelong filmmaking dreams, Thompson began production on her first feature film, 'Fly High; Story of the Disc Dog,' which went on to be selected for the Top Dog Film Festival, operated by Adventure Films of New Zealand. 'Fly High' was featured in screenings throughout New Zealand, Australia, the UK, and other parts of Europe. Thompson most recently acted as Director of Photography on the RPG-centric comedy, 'Table Chatter' before production began on 'Atlas Falling.'
After working as a cinematographer on several short films and feature documentaries in North Carolina, 'Atlas Falling' is Thompson’s most ambitious short film to date, encompassing many roles including writer, director, producer, cinematographer, and actor.
Thompson currently owns and operates a production studio out of Greensboro, SparkCreate Studios, and serves as a Director of Photography on local independent film productions in North Carolina.
Lindsay will soon begin work on two additional short films alongside her partner, "All In," and a coming-of-age feature film under the SparkCreate Studios flag. Her primary career goals include being a Director of Photography on a feature film for a major production company and owning/operating a sound stage in her home state of North Carolina.
"All In" Thompson, Lindsay Thompson's partner, makes her short film directorial debut in 'Atlas Falling' alongside Lindsay. "All In" co-produced and directed the film, assisting Lindsay in bringing out a better performance from the cast.
"All In" also performed the role of principal dog trainer and handler for the project, training Banksy Thompson, a six-year-old Australian Cattle Dog, the necessary skills to fulfill his role in the film.
Lindsay, "All In," and Banksy call North Carolina home with their other five dogs and spend their downtime training and competing in numerous dog sports including canine disc and agility. Both are accomplished dog sport handlers.
I wrote 'Atlas Falling' during a difficult life transition. My two beloved dogs, Eko and Brick, were aging, both double digits and Eko would soon be the first that would leave my side. Preparing for the inevitable end of life of my heart dog, I began writing to express what it was I was feeling, visually. It felt very much like something very precious would be taken away from me at any moment and I was angry.
Angry and sad, grieving, I directed those emotions into creating a captivating piece about grieving and what vengeance may look like if death could be avenged. Thus, 'Atlas Falling' was born.
Through the writing and production process for this film, both Eko and Brick left this earthly plain for the spiritual. Crushed by their loss and adapting to this new chapter of life, both grieving my loss but also celebrating the path both placed me on during their time in my life, production began on my most ambitious short film to date. I made my first movie, 'Fly High; Story of the Disc Dog,' inspired by them both, and the subsequent journey, led me to the woman who would become my wife, whom we affectionately refer to and credit as "All In."
Together we present to you our SparkCreate Studios flagship piece, 'Atlas Falling.'
