Atefeh Khademolreza is an award-winning writer, director, and animator, originally from Iran and currently residing in Toronto, Canada. With over 15 years of international filmmaking experience, she honed her craft under the mentorship of the late maestro, Abbas Kiarostami, before relocating to Canada.

Atefeh's films have graced esteemed film festivals worldwide, including the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the Berlin International Film Festival, and the Busan International Film Festival. In 2021 and 2022, she served as the Filmmaker-in-Residence at the Toronto International Film Festival's Micki Moore Residency. Additionally, she has been chosen for the Netflix-BANFF Diversity of Voices Pitch Program in 2023.

Her latest work, the short animated documentary 'METEOR,' made its world premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival. Atefeh is also an alumna of the Berlinale Talent Campus (2006), the Asian Film Academy (2008), the Serbia Interaction Film Camp (2006, 2016), and Reelworld E20 (2019). She has further served as a jury member at festivals, including the Oscar-qualifying Tehran International Short Film Festival, and participated in the selection committee for TIFF22's Micki Moore Residency.

Atefeh is a founding member of the Association of Iranian Film and Theatre Artists Abroad (AIFTAA). Driven by a passion for storytelling, her work delves into themes of women, immigration, and identity, exploring the experiences of cultural and social disorientation and reorientation. She holds a Master's Degree in Film Production from York University (2019) and is a member of the Writers Guild of Canada and the Iranian Short Film Association (ISFA).
