Ashruta - The Unheard
Asruta is an untold story of two street performers living in the vibrant city of Kolkata. Though we pass them daily, we often overlook them, leaving their story unseen. Two individuals with different abilities strive as hard as anyone else to earn their living. But, like a colorful flower blooming in the bush, they flourish when they meet each other, and their connection fills the rest of the day with beauty and flavor.
The story seems to encourage us to acknowledge and appreciate the unheard stories and struggles of others, fostering empathy and understanding.

'Ashruta - The Unheard' emerged from an inherent curiosity about the unseen lives we encounter every day but seldom acknowledge. The vibrant streets of Kolkata, teeming with stories, often veil individuals whose existence blends into the chaos—street performers who bring art to life in exchange for fleeting recognition and survival. This film is a tribute to two such performers, who, despite their challenges and different abilities, reflect an indomitable spirit. Their story is one of resilience, creativity, and an unspoken bond that transforms their struggles into moments of beauty. The intersection of their lives, much like the intricate tapestry of Kolkata itself, unveils layers of humanity that inspire empathy and connection. With Ashruta, I hope to gently prompt viewers to pause, observe, and embrace the unseen. Through an intimate lens, the film seeks to celebrate the colors of individuality, the strength in companionship, and the profound beauty of the everyday. It is an invitation to acknowledge the extraordinary in the ordinary and to listen to the unheard stories around us—because every life, no matter how marginalized, holds the power to enrich our understanding of the world. This is not just a film; it is an attempt to break the barrier of indifference, fostering a deeper appreciation of the unseen lives that contribute, in their unique ways, to the fabric of our shared existence.
