Director Biography - Alejandro Retana

(Guatemala 1990) From very young he was interested in film and writing. He made his first short film in Mexico while he was studying a Diploma in Sports Journalism at JRF. The experience made him to fell in love with making films, so, when he returned to Guatemala, he made his next short film One Way and he decided to study Audiovisual Production at the Panamerican University. During the career he performs more than 20 Short Films. Of which some manage to win in several Festivals in Guatemala, Mexico and
Colombia of which they highlight Glass Dreams, Toco Wood, Chrysalis, In the Same Route, Ecstasy. Until 2018, he decided to go to Mexico to study Cinematography at AMCI.

Director Statement

El Documental tiene como propósito dar a conocer la Asexualidad a través de testimonios de distintas personas asexuales así como la experiencia personal de Alejandro.
Se grabó con tonos grises, morados, azules, rosas. Para que la fotografía vaya acorde a los colores de la bandera Asexual. Sobre todo en las escenas de Dramatización.
Las tomas exteriores se realizaron con Cámara en mano para crear ese ambiente de cámara subjetiva y entender que es la visión del documentador. Al realizar las entrevistas. A diferencia de en el Set que se realizó con fondo negro, e iluminación lateral para dar esa sensación de cercanía y privacidad. Y de las escenas de siluetas para mostrar ese encierro donde se juzga con prejuicios de una forma superficial.
