As The Tide Comes In
'As the Tide Comes in' is a silent film that explores the puzzling in-betweens moving from a toxic relationship into a healthy one, and all of the resistance that comes with that. "I felt it important to depict this film with no dialogue (and to reach across all borders) to truly represent all of the emotions that we can't express with words, but rather through heightening of the senses and experience.
Ash (represents fire/burned out) is played by Nick Krause (Boyhood, The Descendants, Shoplifters of the World)
River (represents water/flow) is played by E.J Bonilla (Gemini Man, The Long Road Home, The Old Man)

Keana Marie was born in Nice, France to a Brazilian mother and a French father. At the age of 8, she moved to Miami, Florida and developed a passion for filmmaking. She would pick up her father's video camera, and at other times prop her laptop (using her laptop camera) on her shoulder in means of bringing to life her creativity. When she reached high school she attended Academy of Arts and Minds, a charter art school where she majored in theater and minored in film and photography. Upon graduation, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. Meanwhile, Keana, attended film school studying cinematography for a year before deciding to dedicate her time fully to acting. You may recognize her from the popular Netflix series 'Dash & Lily', brought to you by Shawn Levy (Stranger Things), Josh Barry (I'm Not Okay with This), Joe Tracz (A Series of Unfortunate Events) and Nick Jonas; in which she plays the role of Sofia. Keana Marie has won several awards for her first role in the film "Posthumous" and had recurring roles in Netflix's "Huge in France" and "Flaked". She also appeared in "The Goldbergs", "Life in Pieces", and other highly acclaimed tv shows. Coming-up, Keana will be seen as the lead in the feature film "Root Letter", alongside Danny Ramirez and Lydia Hearst. After falling in love with screenwriting in 2019, she made it her priority to get back to her roots and share her stories. 'As The Tide Comes In' is her directorial debut, she is soon to begin pre-production of her second short and currently writing her first feature.
This film is my personal journey and I wanted to help (with no language barrier) people who have or are currently enduring the same story; dealing with triggers, unfathomable and shameful cravings, lack of understanding, and having to rewire their idea of love.
All of the shots with Ash are past tense; they come in as triggers, and inability to let go when trying to move forward with River. The intention is not about who you are with, but ultimately being good with yourself to finally allow to rid of your suffering and look towards the light — move on. Being a huge advocate for tangibility, I recreated the memory scene by shooting on HI 8 Cassette (my vision would not have been satisfied just adding a filter in post). I always placed myself on the right side of the bed, as still being stuck in my past reality, and in the last shot I introduce light into the film and I place myself on the left side in means of illustrating that transformational growth has conclusively happened.
Excited for the opportunity to play! Thank you for your consideration.
