Arul Sankar (b. 1979, India) is an accomplished filmmaker whose journey into cinema is driven by sheer passion. Originally an IT professional, Arul balanced his career with his love for filmmaking by learning filmography during weekends and spare time. His commitment led him to produce short films and work as an assistant director to hone his craft.
While on an IT assignment in the United Kingdom, where he lived for three years, his calling for cinema grew stronger. Ultimately, he returned to India, dedicating himself fully to the film industry. After 12 years of relentless learning and effort, Arul wrote and directed his first Tamil short film, "Thendral Vandhu Theendum Bodhu" (The Breeze That Sparks a Feeling) in 2018. This poignant love drama earned him 29 awards in the international film festival circuit, cementing his reputation as a filmmaker of note.
Building on this success, Arul directed his second short film, "Anbirkum Undo" (Love Knows No Boundaries), which garnered an impressive 41 awards at international film festivals, further showcasing his talent and storytelling prowess.
Arul’s expertise extends to feature films as well. He worked as an associate director on the upcoming Tamil movie "Manushi", directed by Gopi Nainar, known for the critically acclaimed "Aramm." The film, produced by the renowned filmmaker Vetri Maaran, features music by the legendary Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja and stars the talented actress Andrea Jeremiah in the lead role
