Moritz Licht is a screenwriter and director from Germany. He is a student at the Filmakademie Wien. During his studies he was taught by Götz Spielmann, Michael Haneke and Jessica Hausner, among others. Together with Lorenz Uhl, he wrote the screenplay Söder , which had its world premiere at the Max Ophüls Award and was shown at prestigious festivals in Clermont-Ferrand and Palm Springs. His feature debut _Save Our Souls is currently in production. Moritz Licht is fascinated by stories that touch the heart and tickle the mind.
The filming of Arme Hunde was an exciting and intense experience for everyone involved. We are truly proud of what we have achieved together. This was only possible because we had a fantastic team that strived for excellence in every department.
We certainly didn't make things easy for ourselves. The shoot included driving sequences, scenes with a dog, an intimate sex scene, and a physical altercation involving stunts. There were so many moments where things could have gone wrong.
We are very proud to have made a film that is as entertaining as it is moving. Special recognition must go to the actors of our three central characters—Lili Winderlich, Tilman Tuppy, and Dietmar König—who brought far more depth to these roles than we could ever have written. Furthermore, supporting actors like Sarah Viktoria Frick and Joshua Bader made the film truly special.
We are currently reaching the end of a long and challenging post-production process. The sound mix remains a central pillar of our cinematic storytelling, as the film thrives on its rhythm and music. We are collaborating with re-recording mixer Moritz Peter, who is supporting us and generously waiving his fee. Now we want to ensure that the magnificent work of so many young filmmakers is properly celebrated and recognized, allowing the film the release and journey it deserves.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors and to everyone who made this film possible.
