Aku Hietikko is a Finnish film director and screenwriter, known for his hands-on approach in filmmaking. He typically handles not only directing and writing but also visual storyboarding, editing, and special effects of his films.
I wanted to create a horror film that feels truly unique—one with a simple yet powerful story, drawing from my deepest fears. I don’t know anyone who fears spiders more than I do.
Arachnobody is a psychological and symbol-laden film that pays homage to the roots of cinematic horror. Beneath the surface, it serves as a commentary on issues within the healthcare system, but it can also be experienced purely as the most terrifying ride of your life.
