Alexia is a writer, director, producer and actor based in London. "End of Day", her award-winning first short film which she wrote, produced and starred in, was selected by international festivals. "Another Match" is her debut as a director, in which she again writes, produces and stars, exploring the complexities of modern dating through apps. After a career in investment banking, she completed intensive courses in filmmaking, acting, and screenwriting over the past four years and worked on several independent sets to hone her craft.
As soon as you open a dating app, scrolling through profiles feels more like shopping than searching for connection. Endless faces promise more than the last. As part of the Raindance Film Festival’s sixty second short film challenge, Another Match is a comedy satire on how that sense of abundance turns into missed opportunities, reflecting the many articles describing dating fatigue from apps. We meet dozens of people who never quite fit the bill, yet we keep swiping in the hope of something better and lose the will to invest in the person before us.
Ultimately, Another Match asks us to pause and ask what if we stopped treating each date like a transaction? In just 60 seconds I hope the film reminds audiences that genuine connection requires time, openness and a willingness to be vulnerable.
