Ben Wyrick is a runner and photographer based in the Appalachian foothills of Virginia. He cut his teeth in SVHS edit bays and has a passion for running and filming in the tallest mountains he can find. After a 41-hour finish in the 2016 Hardrock 100 ultramarathon, Wyrick returned the following year to direct a 29-minute documentary about the run titled Animas Means Soul. The project features race footage as well as interviews with elite athletes such as Kilian Jornet and Darcy Piceu.
This documentary is dedicated to the Hardrockers: the runners who attempt the 100-mile race through the mountains of Colorado and the miners who weathered the snows and isolation of remote mining camps.
