And We Rest on Giants

And We Rest on Giants is an exploration into the lives of people of color aging and long-term survivors of HIV. As stigma continues to ravish communities of color, this short explores the daily walk of those thriving unapologetically and provides a first-hand account of the HIV journey. Layered with spoken word, these stories ignite the importance of honest discussion.

Director Statement

After 17 years of serving community in Public Health, providing HIV/STI education and empowerment, and witnessing the effects of HIV and stigma within communities of color, I began to understand the importance of reaching community in larger volume. During the onset of the pandemic I began exploring storytelling thorough a lens. After teaming up with photographers and videographers I realized that the narrative of sexual health could further be explored, behind the lens. The stories of long term HIV survivors and thrivers resonates because we are experiencing a generation of individuals that thought they would no longer be living and a generation of individuals that can learn through their narrative. For me, And We Rest on Giants is a love story to those living with HIV and a glimpse of resilience when you begin to recognize your worth!
