Director Biography - Erin Day

Erin Day is a Southeast United States filmmaker with over a decade of work in the industry under her belt. She sees filmmaking as a deeply connective exchange, shaped by mentorship, collaboration, and lived experience. Alongside writing and directing, she's spent years working in production and as an actor, and that path continues to ground her. At a time when technology is rapidly reshaping storytelling, she feels more committed than ever to her role as a writer, director, and actor, and to telling stories that come from a distinctly human place.

Director Statement

Have you ever lost a loved one and found yourself calling their phone to hear their voice on the outgoing message? Leaving messages for them, and praying that somehow, they'd hear you? The idea for Anamnesis (An-am-nee-sis- remembering things from a supposed previous existence) came to me after having a nightmare about a friend of mine who lost his battle with mental health. It made me wonder, what if there was a space between life and death where people we love whose lives are lost tragically are sent to wait, not for judgment, but for a message or a sign that reminds them of their past life and why they've ended up there. Once they remember and accept it, maybe then they can move on. Anamnesis is my 2nd professionally produced short film as a director, writer, producer.
