Analipsis
"Analypsis" comes from the Greek word ἀνάληψις, meaning "ascension", "rebirth". This word reflects not only the biblical story of Ascension, but also the very essence of the main character of this film - the Ascension Cathedral of Almaty. Reborn after several earthquakes, he will relive with us the centuries-old mystery of the Orthodox Easter.
In the heart of Central Asia, at the foot of the majestic mountains of the Trans-Ili Alatau, stands this oldest building in Kazakhstan. Built more than 100 years ago, the cathedral has become not only the center of the christian community of the region, but also a real miracle of engineering. Built entirely of wood, but masquerading as a stone building, it is one of the largest wooden temples in the world and a monument of earthquake-resistant structures.
Through the prism of Easter, traditions, and architectural craftsmanship, the film opens up a new perspective on the Ascension Cathedral, a monument of faith, endurance, and hope that rises like the Ascension itself — Analypsis.
