Zardosht Afshari is an Iranian filmmaker whose short films have been screened in international film festivals like the U.S., Iran, Poland, Croatia, India, and Italy.
His short documentary Philadelphia Iran Afghanistan (2020) was selected as a "Market Pick" at the Clermont- Ferrand Short Film Festival. His recent two short narrative films, She Does Not Smile (2022) and "An Endoscopy" (2023), respectively, had their world premieres at the Tehran International Short Film Festival and BlackStar Film Festival, both of which are Academy Awards® Qualifying Film Festivals for Shorts.
He is an assistant professor of film at Middle Georgia State University.
"An Endoscopy" explores the human experience, delving into the complexities of grief, and connection. The film intertwines the narratives of an African American student and an immigrant, forging a unique bond amidst a major medical procedure.
