Sofía & Lola: Among Shadows and Light
Sofía and Lola met in the school hallways, but their true friendship was forged on the set of a short film. Two opposite personalities that found common ground in cinema: Sofía, meticulous and analytical, with a mind that dissects every detail before taking a step; Lola, impulsive and passionate, overflowing with creativity, always ready to jump first and think later.
From the very first day of shooting, their differences became clear. Sofía meticulously planned every shot, ensuring the lighting was perfect and that every line of the script made sense. Lola, on the other hand, wanted the camera to move with instinct, chasing emotions rather than perfect framing. At first, they clashed. One sought control, the other freedom. One focused on the plan, the other on the feeling.
But then something changed. They realized they weren’t on opposing sides—they were the perfect balance. Sofía taught Lola to slow down and refine each scene with precision, while Lola showed Sofía that sometimes the most authentic moments come from the unexpected.
The result was a short film that didn’t just tell a story on screen—it captured, in every frame, the evolution of their friendship. Between shadows and light, between planning and spontaneity, Sofía and Lola learned that filmmaking—just like life—isn’t about choosing between reason and emotion, but about finding harmony in the mix of both.
Today, their short film is more than just a school project; it’s proof that when two opposing visions learn to complement each other, they can create something truly powerful.
Date of birth:
Lola - May 12, 2007
Sofía - April 21, 2007
From the very first moment we started working on this short film, we knew we wanted to tell a story that felt real—something many teenagers experience without even realizing it: the consequences of acting on impulse.
As teenagers, we often get caught up in the moment, without thinking about the impact of our decisions. We wanted to explore that impulsiveness—that split second when we make a choice without considering how it might change everything. Through our protagonist, we show how a mistake from the past can become a shadow that follows us, reminding us that some actions can’t be undone, no matter how much we wish they could.
Making this short film also became a reflection of ourselves. We are very different—one thinks before acting, the other jumps in without hesitation. And through the process of making this film, we realized that both ways of being have value. Just like our protagonist, we all need to find a balance between emotion and reason.
This project not only gave us the chance to tell a story, but it also helped us grow as filmmakers and as people. We hope that audiences see a part of their own experiences in this short film and that it makes them reflect on those small decisions that, even though they seem insignificant at the time, can change everything.
