Altars of Memory and Magic
Catrín and Catrina invite us on a journey through time and tradition. In this animated fulldome experience, the guardian spirits of the Day of the Dead reveal the origins and symbolism of four essential offerings: the marigold flower, the sugar skull, the papel picado, and the pan de muerto.
Through immersive imagery, imagined aromas, and vibrant colors, the audience discovers how each element becomes a bridge between the world of the living and that of those who have departed.
The story culminates in the creation of an altar filled with memory and magic, where tradition and spirit intertwine to celebrate life.

I am a creative producer and film director at Dessignare Studio in Mexico City. For over 15 years, we have focused on cultural storytelling, developing projects that promote heritage and art through film and new media.
Founder of Dessignare.com, network specialized in Multimedia Art, that is actively developing partnerships with digital art schools, animation studios, new media festivals and international creative companies.
“Altars of Memory and Magic” was created to share the roots of the Day of the Dead through an immersive experience. I want the audience not only to learn about these traditions, but to feel them — surrounded by light, vibrant colors, and sounds.
Transforming the dome into a symbolic altar, the show becomes a space where we remember, celebrate, and reconnect.
This show was produced as part of Dessignare Studio’s Immersive Experiences for Education program, a special initiative designed to train young artists in the production of animated short films.
Altars looks to offer a glimpse into the ancestral past, mixed with a contemporary perspective.
