I grew up inundated with crime shows, and wanted to create a twist on the genre by exploring how our cultural obsession with tragedy becomes its own type of consumerism, often at the expense and objectification of young women. Films about male serial killers frequently fetishize the same thing as the killer: girls' bodies. This film elides the male gaze to explore what true closure looks like to a woman detective.
