John D. Lofton IV has over 15 years experience writing, producing, directing and editing professional video productions for TV & Internet. He graduated from Full Sail University with a degree in Science of Film and Video Production in 2004.
In 2005 he worked as a 2nd AD, and Art Director, on an independent film in Kansas for several months. Afterwards; he moved back to Maryland in 2005 and briefly worked retail selling high-end DSLRs and still-cameras, while working on personal creative projects.
From 2006 – 2012 he worked as Associate Producer / Producer at RaffertyWeiss Media in Silver Spring, MD. During his time there he worked with big name clients such as Lockheed Martin, Clark Construction, United Way, American Red Cross, CFC, Capital One, DOD, FannieMae, First Potmac Realty Trust, Iron Bow Technologies, NIH and Sprint.
From 2012 – 2015 John worked in the cutting-edge streaming video industry, during its infancy, as a Systems Specialist | Quality Control Professional for Verizon Digital Media Services. He worked on projects for ABC, Disney, Viacom, Redbox and more.
After a successful career at VDMS, John decided to focus full-time on LoftonFilms.
I was born into a family of creatives. My Italian grandfather on my Mothers side owned a dinner theater where I grew up watching actors rehearse with Directors and perform on the weekends. My grandfather on my Fathers side was an outspoken public figure, writer and master debater who regularly appeared on news and talk shows. My father was a musician / songwriter who toured the DMV in the 80s and continues to this day to produce music. He has won 2 awards for music composed for LoftonFilms productions.
Growing up, my 2 brothers and I were mainly raised by our single Mother and grandparents on our Fathers side. All these people and experiences we had during our childhood shaped me into the storyteller that I am today.
I prefer to create more serious films, but also enjoy creating horror & comedy as well. I hope you enjoy the LoftonFilms productions!
