All Souls

A lackadaisical hunter, Sasha Petrov, wanders the snowy wood searching for game. Upon entering a clearing, he notes a fox that has been sacrificed in an occult manner - and as though without autonomy, he succumbs to the supernatural power surrounding it. Afterwards, he enters his home and his wife, Maria Petrov, lies angry and forsaken. Later that night, Maria wakes up to an empty bed. Sasha is nowhere to be found, and so Maria follows a trail he seems to have left up a sheer ascent. The pursuit is eerie and tension is rampant. Sasha stops and the two are at a standstill. Sasha speaks, garbled, of the fault in their situation, and slowly it becomes more evident that he is not himself.

Vespertine 'Ves' Iffith is a proficient and well-versed writer and director known for talented crew work, along with decisive, diction-heavy writing. With a background in the film industry, Ves has honed her skills as a writer through education, along with development through her own dedication to the craft. Her work on directing stylistic films such as Somniphobia, Vehemence, and written prosaic novel Road To Nowhere showcase her ability to pay attention to detail in a way that writers become accustomed to. Her upcoming project, All Souls, builds upon that foundation through showing her ingenuity and attention to detail by way of direction.

Director Statement

All Souls, whilst initially a simple archival-horror narrative scene, has grown and developed to become the pristine depiction of the original creative vision. The piece expresses themes of mystique, supernatural involvement and all that is unknown beyond human comprehension. Personally, I find that as a director, themes centered around existentialism and the occult are very engaging, and they drive a narrative in a way other, more passive themes cannot.
