Alexander Maß is a German film artist. He completed a degree in environmental resource studies in Christchurch, New Zealand and a public-health-focused MBA-ish Diploma in Berlin before writing an essayistic, art-based thesis at the Berlin Social Science Center that critically reviewed methodological rules and the role of the researcher in particular. In addition, he attended film seminars at the Berlin University of the Arts and subsequently shot, among others, a short documentary for an NGO in the eastern Andes of Ecuador. His current artistic work gravitates around the connection of natural, social and psychological processes as well as philosophies of knowledge and newness, using text-, film- and sound-based media in order to question the very core idea of what kind of knowledge we should strive for and for what purpose.
