Alexander Blok – "The Twelve" (animation)
Alexander Blok on his legendary poem: From "Notes on The Twelve"
In January 1918, I gave myself over to the elemental force one last time—just as blindly as I had in January 1907 or March 1914. That’s why I don’t disown what I wrote back then—it came from being in tune with that elemental power. For instance, during and right after finishing "The Twelve," I physically felt, with my own ears, a tremendous, continuous noise all around me—probably the sound of the old world collapsing.
