Alberto Sordi Secret

This is the first docufilm on Alberto Sordi's private life. The “national Alberto” was a
very reserved man that didn't like ostentation. His private life was impenetrable to
ousiders. With the public and his collaborators, to whom he was very attached and
grateful, he only shared his professional life. ‘Alberto Sordi Secret’ is a real historical
document; A docufilm far from clichés, full of emotions, anecdotes, curiosities,
unpublished photos and videos, memories of famous and not-so-famous friends,
relatives, some of his lovers, and owners of the restaurants that Sordi frequented.
The movie reveals unknown aspects of Sordi's life, offering an intimate and personal
look at the man behind the public persona.
It features fictional scenes designed to portray Sordi as a child and later as a young
man, alongside his family. The fictional segment includes the reconstruction of
locations as they appeared during the 1925/1940, the era around which the narratives
are centered.
The work. Therefore, alternates between fictional sequences, contributions from well
known personalities and archival video and photographic material from the Istituto
Luce of Cinecittà.
Within the work, we find contributions from well-known friends of Alberto Sordi; in
particular we mention: Pupi Avati (film director and producer), Rino Barillari (the
king of paparazzi), Countess Patrizia de Blanck and her daughter Giada, Sabrina
Sammarini (daughter of the actress Anna Longhi), Tiziana Appetito (daughter of the
stage photographer Enrico Appetito), Alessandro Canestrelli (son of Alessandro
Canestrelli Senior, set photographer for dozens of Sordi's films), Rosanna Vaudetti
(RAI presenter), Elena De Curtis (Totò's niece), Jason Piccioni (son of Piero Piccioni,
author of dozens of soundtracks), Carlo Livignani (Sordi's cousin), Igor Righetti
(Sordi's cousin), Piera Arico (actress and wife of Gastone Bettanini, Sordi's secretary
and accountant) and many others.
These characters contributed to light the real and untold life of the famous actor.
The aim is to make the general public aware of his habits, his humanity towards the
people in need, his way of facing life, his relationship with his family, his spirituality
and the young fans, his deep connection with Rome and Italy and his final wishes.
Alberto Sordi entered everyone's heart and he probably was and still is the most loved
Italian actor in the world.
Answers will also be given to the many questions that millions of people have always
wondered: how did the legend of Alberto Sordi's alleged stinginess originate? Why did
he never got married? Why he didn't want to play political characters? How were his
characters born and why did he interpret them in that particular way?
It will also explore character such as Guglielmo Bertone, known as “Il Dentone” and
more about Sordi's regrets, his passion for collecting works of art and antique furniture
and his relationship with his parents, Maria Righetti and Pietro Sordi, as well as with
his sisters and brother.
Hidden lovers, pbsessions, fears, regrets, gossip, feelings, affection for animals and
the less fortunate, his generous philanthropy and his relationship with politics.
Sordi's stories will alternate with images, testimonies and exclusive videos, along with
photographs taken from the Righetti and Sordi family albums, as well as private
backstage photos taken by his two official photographers (Enrico Appetito Historical
Archive and the Associated Reporters of Rome).
Furthermore, the docufilm will take the audience to the places he frequented and those
where he lived as a child and teenager, such as Valmontone, a small town on the
outskirts of Rome.
Sordi represented an Italy undergoing change in the post-war period, a work that is
also valuable to new generations so that the historical memory of a great actor like
Sordi is not lost, but instead is regenerated.
