Bharath Kannan, also known as Baz, is a UK-based filmmaker, visual designer, and digital artist known for blending cinematic storytelling with innovative visual effects and design. With a background in UX/UI design and software engineering, Baz brings a rare fusion of technical precision and creative vision to his filmmaking.
Originally trained in software development, Baz discovered his passion for storytelling through design. He later transitioned into UX/UI, completing a professional course at the University of Birmingham—an experience he credits as one of the most transformative decisions of his life. This shift empowered him to explore filmmaking as both an emotional outlet and visual art form, combining his love of narrative with his expertise in motion graphics, image manipulation, and digital art.
Baz is the creator of the Kannan Creative Universe (KCU), a concept that merges film, photography, VFX, and voice performance into emotionally rich, cinematic experiences.
By day, Baz works as a UX/UI Designer. By night, he creates imaginative, surrealist artwork and short films that push the boundaries of what’s possible in independent storytelling. His passion for combining form and feeling is evident in everything he touches—from interface design to motion graphics to emotionally grounded sci-fi and superhero narratives.
When he’s not making films, you’ll find him creating digital artwork, reading non-fiction, exploring storytelling through podcasts, editing cinematic content, lifting at the gym, or diving into narrative-driven video games.
Agents of SHIELD: Stark’s Redemption is a love letter to both Iron Man’s legacy and the world of Agents of SHIELD. I wanted to explore a "what if" scenario where Tony Stark faces the real Mandarin — not as a billionaire in armour, but as a vulnerable man fighting for redemption.
This fan film blends photography, VFX, motion graphics, and voice acting in a bold visual format I call the 'Marvel Photographic Universe'. It’s an experimental project that reimagines what fan storytelling can look like — grounded, emotional, and cinematic, even on a small budget.
As a Midlands-based filmmaker and designer, I wanted to showcase what’s possible when passion meets creativity. This is about loyalty, sacrifice, and bringing someone home. I hope it entertains audiences and inspires other filmmakers to adapt this storytelling method into their projects.
