JP (they/them) is a disabled and nonbinary cartoonist, 2d animator, and illustrator based out of the Greater Seattle Area, WA.
JP earned a B.A. in Animation from Loyola Marymount University of Los Angeles in May 2024, and is breaking out into the industry as a freelance animator and story artist on small, indie projects–while also exploring program/production management in their first position out-of-college at a small arts organization on Bainbridge Island, WA. There, they work as a program coordinator for the Media Arts Studio, where they plan to develop a new animation program for amateur and young artists. In 2025, they will be a character development and animation instructor for the organization.
'Afternoon Snack' is JP's first time directing a low-to-no-budget short film. 'Afternoon Snack' was originally developed as their senior thesis film for their B.A. requirements for Animation. With an extensive history in music education, theory, and performance, JP revolves their animation work around music. They hope to continue creating visual pieces that accentuate the rich world of music in future projects.
Additionally, JP runs a small business based on a cartoon character, Sir Bean the Sloth, that raises awareness of sloth conservation through silly illustrations and animations.
