Director Biography - Ahsan Minhas, Marwan Bakri

Ahsan Minhas (29), entered the world of cinema at the age of 9 when he fell in love with the experience of going to films that for many it didn't even exist.

How films were created was the curiosity that started the journey since he watched his first film Jurassic Park.

He started to create films at the age of 12 and gradually indulged in more projects and learned the art of filmmaking through experience in London, UK with LSF Short-Film Group at the age of 19 for a year.

He has successfully achieved a qualification from New York Film Academy in Film Production and is determined to one day create a lasting impact in the media industry of Pakistan & Saudi Arabia.

Ahsan's style of work was always inspired by observing the work of one of the great filmmakers of our times such as Steven Spielberg, Christopher Nolan, Alfred Hitchcock, David Fincher, Stanley Kubrick & Francis Ford Coppola yet trying to create his own ways to reach out into the story through the visual art of filmmaking.

His last film 'My Dear Fiction' was one of the 15 short films selected in Saudi Arabia at the 1st Red Sea International Film Festival and won at the Global Film Awards 2022 in Los Angeles, USA

Director Statement

This film is personal and real but expressed in cinematic language that can speak to the artist and the viewer on a relatable level.

It speaks from the artist's perspective and the perspective of a person living with one. It depicts the elements of both these sides that break relationships slowly with the biggest element, silence.

The film was inspired by real-life events of observing various artists' lives where they all had the common factor of their personal lives not being stable, their art which was the reason for their living was also the biggest villain to their relationships especially the ones who lived with them. They always ended up in difficult situations where typical expectations came in from their significant other who wasn't creative or artistic and couldn't understand their way of living or their perspective of what a 'career' is.

This film explores the complications and confusions in a relationship between an artist and a non-artist if they end up in a relationship too soon and too young.
