Acheron

Artisani and Onelifeonesuit have teamed up to create Acheron. This disturbing short, on the horrors of abuse and addiction, aims to highlight that Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), which are stressful events occurring in childhood, are linked (amongst other things) to abuse and addictive behaviours such as drinking, smoking, substance misuse and gambling in adulthood. Acheron explores this through the eyes of a young man who is abused in the family home and witnesses violence towards his mother. The addictions in Acheron are portrayed as demons which have no respect for anything in life including religion. Ultimately, during a stay in hospital, where he experiences kindness, the young man realises that he can make choices in his life and can choose whether or not to follow his father’s destructive path.

Acheron is filmed with no dialogue, but effectively conveys powerful emotions entirely through sound, action and lighting.
