What drew me to Abducted as a story is the exploration of the pressures that teenagers face to be perfect. We live in a society that unfortunately measures success on how we can achieve near perfection. We expect every child to get straight A's on their report cards, attend the best college, wear designer clothes and drive the best car. We program our children to think this way from an early age. How does this way of thinking affect them? This film explores that question. Children are witnesses to how we behave and the Boy and Man in this movie reflect a duality that exists within us all. The boy represents the future and the man represents who we may or may not become. We used images of nature disrupted in various ways by mankind throughout the film to reflect nature vs man conflict that lies within this story.
