Abaddon’s Pit was written and directed by Jason Egan & Matthew Nash. Inspired by old radio shows, religious myths and surreal cinema, they explore the eternal struggle between the quest for truth versus blind faith. Supported by the amazing cast and crew of their previous film (the quarantine cult-classic Walk Away) they spent two years immersed in the mysteries of the bottomless pit. With a larger cast and a bigger vision, Abaddon’s Pit invokes that cultural conflicts of our era, on the scale of a small town and a single family.
Beginning as a story of processing loss, Abaddon’s Pit unravels as Dave’s mind slips away from reality. What begins as a pit becomes a metaphor for grief and recovery. As his mind is entangled with the pit, Dave’s experience becomes untrustworthy and his thoughts grow stranger and darker. Torn between esoteric philosophy and close-minded religion, his arrival in the pit is both expected and uncanny. Is the pit a messenger of truth, or merely a hole in the ground?
