A Visit, A Ceremony, A Gift

The lockdown can also be taken as another word for territorialization as everybody had to stay right at his or her place. Territorialization, unintential or intentional, means coming-back-to-one’s world, to reattach to a segment of the world. This film narrates qualities of this being-stuck-to-earth by means of the old Irish Alphabet of Trees, the Ogham. Each tree is a letter, a quality, something to interact with, something to incorporate. Old and new stories, trees and people, territories and poetry merge.

Director Statement

My films are experimental, based on performance art which is engaged as a vector exploring space, bodies, economies, the land and the affects. Costumes are simple and improvised, often just felt drawings on paper. Th camera work is slow, hypnotic, zen and filled with that boredom which is the mother of art.
