A Tribune Story
A Tribune Story takes a close look at Resistance, the fan club of Diyarbakır’s Amedspor, which is the soccer team of one of Turkey's politically most unstable cities. Due to the conflict that started in the region after the elections in 2015, Amedspor was exposed to discrimination during away matches and even fines were imposed on the players and fans many times for statements that they supposedly made. This film focuses on the struggles of Amedspor’s young fans who have difficulties finding representation space in Diyarbakır under the country’s state of emergency imposition during the 2016-2017 season. This film shows how they are holding on to their soccer team, which is as marginalized as they are, in an effort to cope with this situation in solidarity. A Tribune Story, which looks closely at the way Kurds express themselves while struggling to exist in Diyarbakır and beyond, traces a political climate where hope and despair coexist through the eyes of the youth in the Resistance Fans Club.
