Alkistis Voulgari was born in Athens. She is an actress and dancer specialized on Isadora Duncan’s Dance Technique.
The last two years she started her own filming experimentations and performance creations which contain Theatre, Poetry, Literature, Dance and Radio Art.
Her love for nature drived her art to unexpected paths in order to find ways to combine her vision with a natural way of life. At the moment she works on that perspective while her online performances, films and artworks travel in different countries, festivals and exhibitions as the Avatar Center (60sec Radio) and Porcovete Pictures in Canada, UNU – Flores in Dresden, International Multimedia Art Festival in Serbia, Verti Films in Prague and On the Rocks Film festival in Italy. Her latest live performance, «Travel through Time»,was presented at Compartments Dance Festival on September of 2019.
The experimental short film «Dancing in the Silence» from the «TERRACE PROJECT» was hosted at Bibart’s Biennale Internazionale D’Arte di Bari and received an honourable mention from the Navajo Film Festival.
During 2020 she was collaborating with The Museum of Dead Words in Brooklyn / NY – the Online Series, interpreting the word EVIL through the performance «The Fight Within».
She is an official member of CID (International Council of Dance - Unesco) since 2018 and also a writer having published her own e – books on the web.
Her vision is to reconnect theatre with its natural roots, to experiment and explore the primitive idea in an open, natural space.
The idea came during the quarantine and it started from a respond to a Call : All the artists should dance on their Terrace in a specific our during the International Day of Dance. I went on my Terrace and started dance improvisations. And the idea took a first form. Now the project is on going and I experiment with various forms of Art by combining them or explore them alone such as poetry and movement mix, photography and narration, dance improvisations, video art ,etc. It seems very interesting to me as I investigate new fields of artistic expression which I would like to share and communicate with a larger audience. I believe that there is a whole new territory of experimentation and evolution in front of us both exciting and challenging.
My personal approach is not to forget the warmness of human contact but to pass it through the digital form of art. I am focusing on the human presence more, on the live performance and not so much on the video art itself.
Eventually, the project is open and can embrace many forms of art, even interaction and collaboration with other artists.
The message is to focus in our Inner-net and to express it through the Internet.
