A Point of View
Between Lebanon and France, two young men navigate the complexities of migration, identity, and belonging. Christopher, in Paris, and Hicham, in Saida, embark on parallel journeys, reflecting on their choices, struggles, and aspirations. Through intimate interviews, contrasting landscapes, and moments of solitude, A Point of View paints a poetic portrait of displacement and self-discovery. As their voices intertwine, a question emerges: does one ever truly leave, or do we forever remain between two worlds?

Charbel is a filmmaker with a passion for documentary storytelling. He studied cinema for seven years between Lebanon and Paris, completing a master’s degree in documentary filmmaking at Université Paris 8 under the guidance of renowned Director Raphaël Girardot. His work, though still in the making, explores themes of migration, memory, and identity, often blending personal narratives with broader historical and social reflections. He is currently working on his second short documentary and his first feature-length documentary, both at different stages.
Beyond filmmaking, he was selected as a jury member for the Gen Z Audience Award at the 2025 Berlinale Co-Production Market.
Additionally, he Co-founded "Al-adab: Ciné Club du Monde Arabe" a Paris-based cine-club dedicated to Arab cinema, creating a space for dialogue and discovery among cinephiles, students, and film professionals.
A Point of View was born from a deeply personal crossroads. Just a month after moving to Paris, I lost my mother, and with that loss came a question that consumed me: Had I made the right choice in leaving? In search of answers, I turned to others like me Lebanese artists, torn between their roots and their ambitions, between home and elsewhere.
Through Christopher and Hicham, I explore this tension, not to resolve it, but to understand it. Documentary became my natural language one that allows me to capture the fragile, shifting nature of belonging. This film is my way of confronting the question that lingers in all of us who have left: Are we ever truly gone, or do we remain suspended between two worlds?
